Good Woman
The Staveley-Taylor sisters â Jess, Milly, and Emily â pulled through a turbulent period to produce a record that's soulful, sophisticated and forward-thinking.
Although The Stavesâ new album was born out of intense loss and grief for the sisters, the title track inspires hope in its contemplation on what it means to be a âgood womanâ. You could expect something more mournful for the Hertfordshire folk groupâs first album in six years, a record processing the death of their mother and the birth of Emilyâs first child, as well as long stretches of homesickness and separation. But theyâre here to prove that strength is what binds them, and that theyâre raring to move forwards into the new chapter of their lives.
